Day 1: Edmundston – June 28, 2012
6:30 am – Board coach at the St. Laurent Mall (In front of East Side Mario’s)
7:00am – Board coach at Queensway Tours Office (1516 Merivale Rd)
We ask everyone to be at your respective pick up point 15 minutes prior to departure.
This morning we begin our journey to Halifax traveling through Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick where we will spend our first night at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Centre, Edmundston, N.B E3V 1T4, Phone 506-739-7321. All guest rooms include coffee makers, hair dryers, irons, ironing boards, voice mail and cable television. The hotel itself features free wireless high-speed Internet access, free weekday newspaper, and indoor heated pool and hot tub, and a sauna. This evening is yours to spend exploring, or relaxing at your hotel.
Day 2: Halifax – June 29, 2012
Enjoy your buffet breakfast this morning before we continue our journey through the province of New Brunswick and into Nova Scotia.
Our arrival is scheduled for approximately 5:00pm.at the Prince George Hotel, Phone 902-425-1986. Rooms are equipped with two double beds, individual climate control, coffee/tea maker, hairdryer, alarm clock and a small refrigerator. Amenities include the Gio Restaurant and Terrace Breakfast Buffett, an indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna, fitness centre and spa for your enjoyment. Our hotel is located in the heart of downtown Halifax, midway between Citadel Hill and the Halifax Waterfront, and surrounded by historic pubs filled with loud east coast music and a fun-loving maritime atmosphere.
Tonight begin exploring Halifax! Check out some of the fine area restaurants and pubs within walking distance, or test Lady Luck at the Casino Nova Scotia.
Day 3: Halifax – June 30, 2012
Enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast at the hotel this morning. Today we will enjoy a three hour guided tour of Halifax, featuring the Historic Waterfront, the Halifax Citadel Historic Site and one of three cemeteries where Titanic unclaimed victims are buried.
This afternoon we travel to Peggy’s Cove, one of the most popular stops in Atlantic Canada. The renowned fishing village and famous lighthouse set on rocky shores are a photographer’s paradise. The scenery is spectacular, and the tiny village retains the relaxed atmosphere and small town charm that made it famous!
Tonight we will be treated to a lobster dinner this evening at the Shore Club at Hubbard’s Beach. Enjoy your choice of Lobster or steak, potato salad, an all you can eat salad bar, unlimited mussels, choice of desert, coffee and tea round out this Nova Scotia experience! We head back to our hotel in the early evening.
Day 4: Halifax – July 1, 2012
Happy Canada Day! Start the day with your hot and cold buffet breakfast at your hotel. Today is the opening of the Royal Nova Scotia Tattoo. Festivities include a parade, plus a variety of workshops that you can enroll in. More information is available on www.nstattoo.ca.
This afternoon we claim our seats to one of the world’s premier cultural and entertainment events. The Tattoo is truly a masterpiece of colour, music, artistry, athleticism and nostalgia. Sit back and marvel at this 2 ½ hour show.
The balance of the evening is free to experience the Canada Day festivities in downtown Halifax!
Day 5: Halifax – July 2, 2012
Enjoy another buffet breakfast this morning. All attractions today are within a short walking distance of our hotel! We visit Pier 21 a newly restored award-winning National Historic Site that tells the stories of 1.5 million immigrants, war brides, displaced children and Canadian military personnel who passed through its doors between 1928 and 1971. For a truly Nova Scotian good time, we’ll tour Alexander Keith’s Brewery. Actors in period costume will lead you back in time as you learn about the beer, the brewery and life in Halifax in 1863. Of course, we`ll finish off the tour with a sample of Keith’s fine ale- it’s the perfect tour for people of all ages!
Next, we visit the state of the art Maritime Museum of the Atlantic for a self guided tour. This year, the museum is recognizing the 100th anniversary of the sailing of the Titanic. Halifax was the closest major port at the sinking of the Titanic, all bodies and artifacts were brought to Halifax. The Maritime Museum is considered to have the finest collection of wooden artifacts available for viewing. This evening we will claim our seats for dinner and a performance at the Grafton Dinner Theatre. Enjoy live music and comedy, plus a scrumptious dinner!
Day 6: Edmundston – July 3, 2012
We retrace our steps, through the province of Nova Scotia, back into New Brunswick, where we spend our final night together at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Centre, 100 Rice St, Edmundston, N.B E3V 1T4, phone 506-739-7321.
Day 7: Home – July 4, 2012
Enjoy your our final buffet breakfast together before boarding the coach for our journey home. Our travels continue back through Quebec and Ontario arriving in Ottawa by late evening.
